The Garmin Forerunner 55 smartwatch has received a new stable update, version 10.01. The company confirmed that it has made the software available to all units of the wearable, with the option to download the software via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. The update is relatively minor, bringing two bug fixes to the smartwatch.
The first addresses an issue which could stop the smartwatch from powering on after users have completed a running activity. The second problem Garmin has tackled is related to the CIQ watch face, which was not working as expected. The model is no longer included in the company’s beta program, meaning customers must wait for these public software releases.
For example, the previous stable update, version 9.03, arrived last November. This version looked to fix a bug with the “Use Heart Rate Zones” settings for intensity minutes and was supposed to help maintain the battery life of the wearable. However, several users complained that the smartwatch’s battery drained faster than expected, with one customer claiming to lose around 10% per hour. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether software version 10.01 will also resolve these battery life problems for the Garmin Forerunner 55 smartwatch, as this is not mentioned in the change log.
